Remembering the Bank of Shawsville
On display at the Meadowbrook Museum

The National Register of Historic Places calls the Bank of Shawsville, built in 1910, the “most architecturally interesting building in the Shawsville Historic District.” For those who remember it as a place where friendly people greeted them with a smile to help them manage their money, the bank was much more than a building: It was a central part of the town and Eastern Montgomery County residents’ lives. The Meadowbrook Museum has collected photos, artwork, artifacts, and other memorabilia related to the bank, its officers, and its place in our community. These items will be on display in the hallway outside the museum during the Harvest Festival.

The museum will also have a booth in the Meadowbrook Courtyard, where we’ll be selling prints by local artists, as well as copies of “Voices from Eastern Montgomery County, Virginia.
