The event will highlight ways to advance the cultural preservation of African American history through exploring family roots and genealogy.

Speaker Karice Luck-Brimmer, a Virginia Humanities program associate, will present her findings, emphasizing oral narratives that shape collective heritage. As a public historian, she manages the General Assembly African American Cultural Resources Task Force and is involved in the development of the Danville Research Center for African American History & Culture.
